With over 27 years of strong operational leadership and people management, my candidate is an individual who applies flexibility, imagination, innovation, and creative problem-solving techniques, into day-to-day activities, commercial activities, and strategy development. Using a flexible communication style, they pride themselves on their ability to build and lead teams and processes, demonstrating and role modelling resilience and accountability across varied roles within the Learning & Development and Apprenticeship sectors.

My candidate thrives in challenging, fast paced environments, and has developed transferable skills, such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, understanding of different learning and behavioural styles and applying varies management techniques to prioritise multiple teams and tasks. They apply these to their own ways of working alongside, operational direction to teams, monitoring and managing performance, correct utilisation of teams and working alongside key stakeholders, both internal and external.

Reporting to the Head of Assessments Services, and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, my candidate was involved in the early set up of a new business unit, with a particular focus on the enabling of the delivery and operations function. This included the development of polices, processes and systems to enable the commencement of delivery and revenue generation and the continuous upscaling of the business unit. The focus of their role then shifted to lead the delivery & operations function, collaborating across the leadership team, and supporting the Head of Assessment Services in the strategic development of the business, budget forecasting and management, and ongoing continuous improvement.

Key deliverables include:

  • • Initial and ongoing recruitment of Independent End Point Assessors, Invigilators, Team Manager and Quality Assurance personnel with sector competence
  • • Created a new culture for the EPA team, one of accountability, support, and empowerment
  • • Provide leadership direction to the team, and ensuring effective communication of financial priorities, both to them, and through effective business forecasting to Finance Teams
  • • People Management of the Delivery & Operations team, including succession planning, objective and KPI setting using different management approaches, 121s/performance reviews, and risk assessments (generic and individual)
  • • Lead the development of all staff within areas of responsibility to maintain a professional team of industry specialists
  • • Monitor the appropriate utilisation of teams, allocating all End Point Assessment activity across UK wide remote team, especially applying hybrid and remote management and delivery, and appropriate delegation of tasks and responsibility to the Quality Assurance team and business
  • • Review the monthly performance of the business, ensuring the achievement of all key performance indicators, and addressing any underperformance through effective performance management
  • • Identify, develop, and deliver new sales opportunities in accordance with the sales growth strategy (including new contracts with Training providers, FE Colleges, Councils and both large and small employers)
  • • Align to current, and changing Apprenticeship policy
  • • Support the investigation and resolution of escalated assessment appeals (external)
  • • Ensure EPA delivery complies with all internal and external procedures and quality measures
  • • Business lead for DBS checks, EDI and Safeguarding, Mental Health First Aider, and promotion of a culture of openness, for example by promoting “time to talk” across the business unit
  • • Ensure Compliance with Security, Health, Safety and Environmental, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Recruitment and Welfare & Safeguarding policies and procedures are always followed
