Direct Payments Adviser – Interviewing asap for a Feb 2023 start

Sandwell, West Midlands

37 Hours per week – fixed term contract till March 2023- Extension subject to funding & performance
Salary £21615 to £23061 per annum (FTE) (dependent on skills & experience) 

Our charity based in Sandwell are looking for an experienced direct payments adviser to join their growing team or someone with IAG experience and worked in a finance role.

Role responsibilities will include

To support the continuous development and co-ordination of the Direct Payments Support Service our client provide. This will include the introduction to the scheme, any training with regard to the scheme that can be done, the calculation, reconciliation and payment of wages to the service user’s Personal Assistants.

Supporting the process within the Direct Payments support service, as required.  Ensuring effective record keeping, performance monitoring and the delivery of SLA’s/Contracts and provide up to date reports as required.   

To provide advice and guidance to the Service Users and the Personal Assistants on the rules and legislation that apply to the Direct Payments scheme, e.g. becoming an employer, employment legislation – where appropriate and the payment of wages rules and regulations.

To undertake the inputting of wage payment data into the computer system (SAGE) and to appreciate the legal requirements of wage payments e.g. PAYE etc

To give advice by telephone, email or in person to service users with regard to the recruitment, payment, discipline and dismissal of their Service Users

To undertake all necessary training in order to keep abreast of the changes to employment and wage payment legislation.

o provide guidance to the service user when problems arise with their Direct Payments Account or scheme rules.

To visit disabled people in their homes to inform them about Individual Budgets and the Direct Payment Service
