Barry, South Wales 9am – 4.30pm, 4pm finish on a Friday 35 hour week

Do you have social work or youth working experience or qualifications ? Do you have knowledge of the welsh government traineeship/youth programmes ? We are keen to hear from candidates with experience of delivering pastoral care and wellbeing support for learners with experience of working with vulnerable learners and unemployed young people.  You will need to have the Level 4 Learning Coach qualification or willing to work towards achieving it.

Your role will be to provide end to end structured support and guidance to all Learners, ensuring the attainment of positive sustained outcomes by providing a variety of interventions throughout their journey on JGW+ Learner Journey – from Referral to Sustained Outcome you will be the main contact point

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Accountable for effective management of a caseload of learners. Actively taking part in frequent caseload reviews to discuss all learners with line manager and responsible for the pastoral care and wellbeing support of all learners.
• Responsible for the identification of learner personal support needs
• Responsible for being point of contact for all safeguarding issues, updating My Concern in a timely manner, making external safeguarding referrals as required and complying with the Company’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Develop appropriate links and maintain good working relationships with external support organisations where appropriate and required.
• Responsible for maintaining and growing the relationship with Careers Wales (CW) to support referrals on to traineeship programmes.
• Responsible for conducting learner interviews and inductions including, meeting and greeting all learners, completing and checking all relevant documentation, delivering structured induction session and making sure all learners have a clear understanding of the provision and programme.
• Accountable for reviewing all relevant paperwork identifying any additional learning needs, for example childcare, 1-2-1, counselling and notify relevant departments, ensuring accurate records are recorded within the learner file.
• Work with learners and other colleagues to develop an effective personalised programme of interventions for individuals who require additional support.
• Accountable for ensuring all learners complete learner satisfaction surveys.
• Responsible for delivery of employability support, including job search guidance, soft skills development, motivational discussions and other appropriate support based on learners needs.
• Liaise with the employer engagement team / Jobs Growth Wales teams to source sustainable employment and placement opportunities for learners and supporting a seamless transition to placement or direct to sustained employment.
• Support learners to gain a full understanding when job or placement opportunities are available, including understanding the job description, interview criteria, location of interview and interview preparation, hints and tips . Responsible for getting the learner interview or placement ready. .
• Coordinating with the Employability Officer to collect the job start evidence requirements and updating the required systems ensuring contractual compliance.
